This book was originally published prior to 1923, and represents a reproduction of an important historical work, maintaining the same format as the original work. While some publishers have opted to apply OCR (optical character recognition) technology to the process, we believe this leads to sub-optimal results (frequent typographical errors, strange characters and confusing formatting) and does not adequately preserve the historical character of the original artifact. We believe this work is culturally important in its original archival form. While we strive to adequately clean and digitally enhance the original work, there are occasionally instances where imperfections such as blurred or missing pages, poor pictures or errant marks may have been introduced due to either the quality of the original work or the scanning process itself. Despite these occasional imperfections, we have brought it back into print as part of our ongoing global book preservation commitment, providing customers with access to the best possible historical reprints. We appreciate your understanding of these occasional imperfections, and sincerely hope you enjoy seeing the book in a format as close as possible to that intended by the original publisher.
The Story of the Gadsbys Rudyard Kipling Books
Is was my second book by Kipling (my first was Kim) It is a play and ought I usually prefer story form I enjoyed it. I really liked being able to get a man's view of life and more particularly marriage. It was a very quick read and quite interesting. Asoldier (later twenties I think) meets a girl that's like 18 and she is rather pert and pretty. Wedding bells ring and you get to see Kipling's view of a married couple. It was a sweet story and not tragic at all. If you want something short and nice read this.Product details

The Story of the Gadsbys Rudyard Kipling Books Reviews
As advertised.
I have read this book both before and after being married. When I was single I liked the part about the courtship, when I was married, I liked the part about the marriage.
Kipling wrote it before he was married. He lamented the loss of male friends, who were "lost" to family life. If you read "Puck of Pook's Hill," you will see that he also formed a family -- and it appears a happy one-- later in life.
It gives you a pretty good idea of a society that is no more (India during the colonial times) which is also worth looking at.
