Quentin Barnes has helped form the team into a powerful force in the Galactic Football league. They still have some weak areas but with Quentin at quarterback they have an offensive threat that few teams can match. The Ionath Krakens are good enough to make the playoffs as long as they work on their weaknesses. Quentin wants to with the championship but that is a lofty goal.The season goes up and down with some injuries and some morale issues. The team has to continue to grow and also merge into a group that believes in each other and in what they can accomplish. They are stronger together than they are as individuals and they have to put their pride and prejudice aside if they intend to be champions. Quentin is still very young but his leadership skills are improving and he is destined to become a superstar making a lot of money. A lot of money with a lot of fame for his accomplishments.
This is a good story and I liked it so much that I have already purchased the next book in the series. Scott Sigler has captured my attention. I have read a lot of his books and he has never let me down. I rated this book at 5 stars.

This series is a LOT of fun to read. It helps if you like football,
but it's certainly not a prerequisite. Bone-crushing intrigue! You
will get caught up in the story and will find yourself caring for the
welfare of the characters. There are some very interesting ideas
in these books as well. Also, it's funny and engaging. It's an easy
and quick read, but worth it.
Give it a try. Might not be your cup of tea, but you might also find
yourself pleasantly surprised. And at these prices, I can't help but
support good authors putting out enjoyable books. I hope the author
will be happy to know that this series falls squarely in the "guilty
pleasure" category, although it's actually better than that.
Sigler's latest installment of the Galactic Football League is the best one of the series. Anyone who's read the first two know to expect the same great football action, plus this one adds yet another fascinating alien race to the GFL mix. Ultimately, this book feels more personal as the author takes the time to explore Quentin Barne's character and maturation as he deals with a lot of off the field issues.
This book is was very entertaining and well plotted, and I was all set to give it five stars until I got to the end, and part of my brain starting screaming "don't you dare do this to me!" There is a major cliffhanger ending that really wasn't necessary. I would have come back for the next installment anyway! I love the new direction the story is headed, I just wish the author wouldn't have left me hanging. So, four stars for The All Pro and my hopes that the next book is coming. SOON!
Ok, it may not be the most appropriate sports analogy, but this is another fantastic entry in Sigler's GFL series. This time out Quentin Barnes is facing some internal team conflict. Supporting characters - including The Tweedy clan, Coach Hokor, Don Pine, and Somalia Midori - all step in to stir up the pot. Quentin also makes some discoveries about his missing family.
Each book continues to get better and its great to see returning characters meshing with new faces. Sure I could wait for the podcasts to come out. Sigler still releases these stories in a free audio format. But they are well worth the download and I've already gotten more than my money's worth from The FDO. One thing is for sure, the cliff hanger at the end of book three already has me primed and ready for the next season of GFL action !
Be sure to start off with THE ROOKIE (Galactic Football League) and THE STARTER (Galactic Football League) to get the whole picture.
I couldn't put this down... Like every other book in this series! These books are so well written, so engaging and has surprising depth in the story. I wasn't expecting that in the first book but it grabbed me and each book has maintained that perfect balance of depth in the story without overload. It maintains "light reading" to me but is very engaging. I'm currently on book 4... inside of a month. I've never read or cared to consume a series so rapidly.
Each book can be read independently -- Scott sets it up for that. But I think you get the maximum enjoyment out each book but understanding the "history" within the story. The books are tied together so professionally and carefully.
Seriously this is such a whirlwind of a book. Here I am, happily reading along in this sports saga progression, when all of a sudden all the political WHAT have you background suddenly comes to play with a literal act of war and suddenly Quentin knows how to shoot a gun and is playing Luke skywalker to the captains Han Solo. I hate blatant set ups and quite frankly the chapter of so between the conclusion of the season and he war hit could have been deleted --but whatever, thank goodness the sequel is out already!
On paper the concept sounds silly "football in space". However, I find myself loving this series more and more as I read the books in the series. They are set inside a well-crafted universe that could contain space operas of its own, I would even argue nearly as well crafted as Peter F Hamilton. Even with such time and effort put into that universe, you only catch glimpses of it through the football obsessed main character "Quentin Barnes". From his eyes I have actually gained more prospective on football that I thought I ever would from any book, let alone a sci-fi series. The author's father used to be a college football coach so the author knows his stuff. I would recommend this series to any sci-fi fan, and more specifically one that wanted to learn the basics of football or just likes football in general. From insight in this book I actually enjoy watching football on TV even more. And surprisingly, having the Krakens on my mind has helped me cope with being a Miami Dolphins fan for a while. Needless to say, I am excited for more in this series, or any that exist in the extended universe.
